Cäsar Pinnau

"Caesar Pinnau is regarded as one of Hamburg’s most versatile and  internationally active architects. Born in Hamburg, he was later commissioned with the interior design of the New Reich’s Chancellery and involved in the planning of the North-South Axis in National Socialist Era Berlin. After the war, he designed luxury yachts for Aristoteles Onassis and created villas and office buildings for the rich and powerful during Germany’s Economic Miracle. In Hamburg in particular, many of his works can still be found: villas along the Elbe river banks and the Alster shore, the Hamburg Süd shipping company headquarters and the cargo ship Cap San Diego, known beyond Hamburg as a maritime monument. In the exhibition, the work of Caesar Pinnau will for the first time be examined and critically analyzed within the context of the times in which he lived." Altonaer Museum
