Meet the team of architects, designers and project managers, which are responsible for the renovation.
Three leading architectural and design offices were commissioned with the creation, the new interior design as well as the comprehensive renovation work. We are delighted to have their leaders and teams on board and to know that the redesign of the Taschenbergpalais is in their hands.

“Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden is certainly one of the most dazzling hotels in the German-speaking world, because what other place combines history and hospitality as skilfully and elegantly as this house? It was built out of love by one of the most artistic rulers of the Baroque era, who collected unique art treasures but also launched, among other things, the first European porcelain manufactory.”
Markus Hilzinger was born and raised in Baden. He first studied art history at the Free University of Berlin before turning to architecture. He worked for the Orlando office, among others, before joining amj-design in 1998. His experience in building construction planning, and interior and product design made him head architect. Together with a team of 15, Markus Hilzinger planned, supervised and designed renowned projects such as Hotel Adlon Berlin (rooms and suites, Felix Club Restaurant, China Club, Day SPA), Grandhotel Heiligendamm, Quellenhof Aachen and St. James Hotel in London for the Althoff Hotels. His passion for art flows significantly into the implementation of his work and has a lasting influence on it.
Since his independence, he has planned, among others, the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, the Villa Belrose in St Tropez, the Palazzo Carcassola Grandi in Via Monte Napoleone in Milan and the AMERON Hotel in the Speicherstadt in Hamburg. Also in the planning is the legendary Dom Hotel in Cologne.
Among other things, Markus Hilzinger is Head of Design for the internationally active Althoff Hotel Collection and was Creative Director for MEISSEN HOME from 2011 to 2017, designing the well-known Cosmopolitan service and the new Vitruv porcelain.

hp developments sees itself as a service developer and was founded in 2001 by Ronald Hetzke in Frankfurt am Main. As a service provider, we take care of all technical, planning, economic and constructional aspects of hotel projects in operational project management, from project development to handover and beyond. Before the founding of hp developments, Ronald Hetzke had already completed outstanding hotel projects, such as Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest in Budapest, the reconstruction of the Taschenbergpalais in Dresden and Hotel Adlon in Berlin. The most recent hotel projects include the nhow Hotel in Tower ONE in Frankfurt, the 25hours Royal Bavarian in Munich and the Urban Nature in St Peter-Ording.

Jan Tröber is a Dresden-based architect, with over 25 years of experience in the field. He is one of the founders of TSSB Architects, who have offices in Dresden, Berlin and Hamburg. Alongside a variety of residential projects, TSSB are well known for their extensive experience in hotel construction, mainly in the 4–5-star hotel sector, where they can look back on over 30 completed projects. TSSB’s diverse portfolio includes projects such as the design of the Roomers Hotel Munich, the renovation of the historical Behr Villa in Dresden and the German ambassador’s residence in Khartum. The company’s work has received multiple awards and accolades, including the prestigious German Design Award. One of the most distinguishing characteristics of the TSSB team is their intention to give locations new identities and highlight the good aspects within the existing ones.
