Hotel Flora
art concept
Lucerne, Schweiz | AMERON HOTEL COLLECTION
The Hotel Flora in Lucerne is located in the city center near Lake Lucerne with a view to the Alps. Here the Kapellbrücke with it's iconic tower divides the new town from the old town. The mighty mountain Pilatus presides over the idyllic atmosphere.
With a small update to the lobby, a fine art concept has been implemented.
The gouaches in aqua blue and ocher colors subtly show the artist's impressions of the nature and architecture of this unique cultural region of Central Switzerland.
The Swiss-based artist Barbara Koch, connects her 'ice faces‘, gypsum-made facial images on antique wood, to the strong carnival tradition in Lucerne with it’s well-known masks.
However, it remains unknown whether she is also alluding the supposed namesake of Lucerne, the northern pike fish, Esox lucius, which is quite similarly preserved and proudly mounted by fishermen on wooden boards on so many a wall.
