The Royal Suite

at the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden

Dresden, 9. Juli 2024

Anker 1

Dresden, 9 July 2024 – The completion of the Royal Suite marks the culmination of the extensive renovation of this renowned hotel icon in the heart of Dresden. Since its reopening, the Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden has radiated with new splendour, offering guests a unique blend of historical ambience and modern luxury. Originally built by Augustus the Strong for Countess Cosel, the hotel has weathered a tumultuous history while retaining its grandeur and royal allure.

Upon entering the Taschenbergpalais, guests are immediately captivated by its refined atmosphere, elegant furnishings and authentic service—a prelude that only heightens upon entering the Royal Suite. Featuring sophisticated furnishings, carefully curated pieces and modern amenities, the suite not only provides ample space for discerning travellers but also boasts an unmatched blend of design and quality. Hand-knotted carpets grace the oak Parquet de Versailles, complimented by walls adorned with paper and linen wallpaper featuring historical motifs. In collaboration with the Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections), an oversized reproduction of Bernardo Bellotto’s painting showcases the Dresden cityscape in the iconic ‘Canaletto View’ from 1748.

The red marble fireplace in the King Suite’s breakfast room, gold leaf fashion drawings by the French Atelier Hector—nodding to the building’s former moniker, ‘the Palace of Fashion’—and a collection of paintings and photographs by renowned artists provide artistic accents.

The Royal Suite, created by merging the King and Queen Suites, offers not only two separate bedrooms with king-size beds but also spans 380 sq m, accommodating up to eight guests. This expansive suite features two spacious living areas, two dining rooms with a kitchenette and kitchen with golden veneers and black stone, a walk-in wardrobe for the Queen and a guest bathroom. The King Suite’s private wellness area includes a Finnish sauna, a luxurious bathtub carved from a solid block of black marble, a relaxation room and a steam shower. The Queen Suite’s bathroom features an elegant white massage bathtub, which also has a floating function with customisable salt content and a steam sauna.

Interior designer Markus Hilzinger skilfully integrated the hotel’s historical legacy into the renovation, achieving an extraordinary symbiosis of history and modern elegance. His vision aimed to preserve the traditional character of the Taschenbergpalais while meeting the highest contemporary hospitality standards.

‘The reopening of the Royal Suite marks a significant milestone for our hotel’, explains Marten Schwass, Managing Director of Taschenbergpalais Dresden. ‘As the epitome of luxury and maximum privacy, it sets new standards in the luxury hotel industry. Markus Hilzinger and his team have done an outstanding job of preserving the historical essence of the building while defining a new standard of luxury. Our guests can look forward to an outstanding hotel experience.’
