Juan Bejar
a Spanish realist and surrealist, born in 1946.
If you think he reminds of Botero, perhaps it is the round cheeks of children, because children are the subject of his incredibly often sarcastic or mysterious portraits.
A painter who loves detail, he devotes much love to the background and storytelling surrounding the actual portrait, whether animal motifs, mosaic tiles, naturalistic depictions, toys and lace collars, vedute and Spanish symbols.
