It was of utmost importance to do the history and significance of the building justice. Being the first building on site and the meeting place of such great political figures as Adenauer, Kohl, Kennedy, Nixon and Elisabeth II. of England, the history of Königshof deserves special attention.
Using an accentuated colour concept, fabrics by Jim Thompson, JAB and by Pierre Frey, faux horsehair and skate wallpaper and carefully selected art pieces, the existing rooms and ceilings of the three restaurants were incorporated in a most subtle manner.
“With just the right amount of intuition for stylistic circumstances and modern elegance, the Berlin Interior Designer ... recreated a German restaurant institution.” DECO Home 01/2015
The central area of the restaurant complex features a berth-like arrangement of suites, creating an intimate fine dining atmosphere. Oil paintings by Robert Keil and paper collages in the style of the 60ies provide the restaurant that was awarded 14 Gault Millau points with unique charm. A special highlight can be found in the back area of the restaurant. A rondel with an impressive ceiling in whose centre a custom-made chandelier made of Murano glass rests above the monolith centrepiece with the annexed banquets.
Further suits radiate from this arrangement. The wallpaper, in the graphic style of the 50ies received the “Finest Interior Award Special 2015” in the category “Wall decoration with Wallpaper”. The room-high triptych portrays a summer scene in gentle shades, continuing the 180 degree panorama view of the Rhine.
